Waterwood Improvement Association

Women's League

The Waterwood Women’s League (WWL) has been in existence since 1976. In 1990, WWL
became a 501 ( c) (3) non-profit organization. Its purpose is to aid in the quality of life of
the women of Waterwood and surrounding areas and to support annual local Scholarship
Funds. Each year, the WWL gives out several 4-year college scholarships or 2-year
technical scholarships to students who are chosen by a committee of league members. The
recipients are chosen based on academic achievements as well as a written submission to
the committee. To date, over $95,000 in scholarships has been awarded.
Where does the money come from to support these scholarships, you might ask? The
money comes from the yearly membership dues, and a variety of fundraisers that are held
each year.
WWL also supports several charitable organizations in our surrounding communities. This
year we plan to provide support to Coldspring CareShare Mission, Care Center of
Huntsville, Rita B. Huff Animal Shelter and programs that benefit our local service men
and women such as Sweats for Vets.
Waterwood Women’s League is a great way to meet new ladies in the area, learn something
new and give back to our wonderful community. Monthly meetings are held September-May
and many fun social events are planned throughout the year. Please note that there are no
minimum meeting attendance requirements, so please consider joining even if you’re
currently employed, or a part-timer here in Waterwood! Many of our fun social outings are
on the weekends.
Dues are $20 per year. If you have any questions or wish to become a member of WWL,
please contact us at Waterwoodwleague@gmail.com.

We’d LOVE to have you join us!
